SEOUL (ICIS)--South Korea’s Aekyung Petrochemical is currently operating its phthalic anhydride (PA) lines and plasticizers units in Ulsan at full capacity, a company source said on Friday.
The company operates five PA lines – two 30,000 tonne/year units and three 50,000 tonne/year units.
The plasticizer units are able to produce 200,000 tonnes/year of dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and 20,000 tonnes/year of dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP).
“There are currently no plans to cut operating rates or shut down the PA and plasticizer units for maintenance,” the source said.
“Demand is relatively flat now, but we expect demand to pick up in the near term on improved global macroeconomics,” the source added.
