Norway’s Statoil to turnaround methanol plant from late-May

LONDON (ICIS)--Norway-based producer Statoil will take its methanol plant in Tjeldbergodden offline for a maintenance turnaround from the end of May for around one month, a source with the company said on Friday.

The plant has a nameplate capacity of 900,000 tonnes/year.

Market sources warned that although the turnaround will be planned for, it comes at a time when the European market is not overflowing with material, and the lost volumes could contribute to higher spot prices.
