SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Polyplastics is running its Fuji 100,000 tonne/year polyacetal (POM) facility at around 80% capacity, said a source close to the company.

POM demand is largely subdued in Asia, as uncertain macroeconomic outlook lowered consumer confidence and spending.

POM is an engineering plastic used in precision parts that require strength and low friction and can withstand a wide range of temperatures. Its main applications are in the automotive and electrical sectors.
