SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s HC Petrochem shut its No 1 aromatics unit in Daesan on 15 April as scheduled for annual maintenance, a company source said on Monday.
“The turnaround is expected to last for about a month and [the producer] expects to restart the facility in the middle of May,” the source added.
The No 1 aromatics facility can produce 380,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX) and 120,000 tonnes/year of benzene, the source said.
HC Petrochem is currently operating its No 2 aromatics unit at the same site at almost 100% capacity, the source added.
