SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangmen Handsome Chemical Development plans to start up its new 80,000 tonne/year butyl acrylate (butyl-A) plant located at Yixing, Jiangsu province, by the end of this month, a company source said on Wednesday.

The company is likely to start up the unit on 28 April, the source said.

“Majority of butyl-A output from the plant will fulfil demand in the southern part of China,” the source said.

According to the source, demand in the southern part of the country stands at 30,000-40,000 tonnes/month.

“We might look into the possibility for the export markets in the long run, but it also highly depends on global macroeconomic conditions,” the source added.

The producer currently operates ethyl acetate (etac) and butyl acetate (butac) plants in east and south China.

The plant at Taixing in Jiangsu province, east China, can produce 120,000 tonnes/year of etac and 60,000 tonnes/year of butac.

In southern Guangdong province, the company runs a 320,000 tonne/year etac/butac swing plant at Jiangmen and a 60,000 tonne/year butac plant at Huizhou.
