SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Yisheng Petrochemical will shut its 650,000 tonne/year and 2m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) units at Ningbo in Zhejiang province on 20 April as scheduled, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
Yisheng Petrochemical has three PTA plants in Ningbo, with the capacities of 650,000 tonnes/year, 650,000 tonnes/year and 2m tonnes/year respectively, the source added.
The other 650,000 tonne/year plant has been off line since February, according to the source.
The company is shutting the facilities at Ningbo for annual maintenance and to keep its output at a low level to reduce losses, the source said.
However, some market players said that Yisheng Petrochemical might not shut the units as planned, because it will be hard to maintain its contract supply if the shutdown occurs.
