SINGAPORE (ICIS)-- China’s Shandong Sanyue Chemical is running its newly started up epichlorohydrin (ECH)/propylene oxide (PO) swing plant at 70-80% of capacity, sources familiar with the matter said on Thursday.
The plant, which has a PO capacity of 80,000 tonne/year and manufactures PO via the chlorohydrin process, began commercial production on 14 April, the sources said.
The unit has yet to consistently churn out on-spec material, they said.
Shandong Sanyue Chemical has plans to eventually double the plant’s capacity to 160,000 tonnes/year although details are not finalised, they said.
The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sanmu Group.
