18 April 2013 17:52 [Source: ICIS news]MEDELLIN, Colombia (ICIS) --Petroleos de Venezuela's (PDVSA) lubricant inventory is sufficient to supply the "entire market" despite a small fire in a dewaxing unit in the lubricants complex at its Cardon refinery in the Falcon state, the state-owned company said on Thursday. "The event occurred in an area confined to the [lubricants] plant, far away from the rest of the processing plants that make up the refining complex," refining director and general manager of the Cardon refining comples Jesus Luongo said. "No other areas were affected." The refinery's operations are normal, Luongo said. Venezuela's refining circuit has reported several incidents in the past months that have affected the production capacity of refined products and forced Venezuela to look for more product out of the US Gulf and Europe. PDVSA has 1,250 bbls/day of Group I base oil production located at Amuay, Venezuela and 4,800 bbls/day Group I production at a Cardon, Venezuela. The Cardon refinery, the second largest in the country, has a refining capacity of 310,000 bbls/day, according to PDVSA.
