SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) plans to shut its 515,000 tonne/year mixed-feed I-4 No 1 cracker at Map Ta Phut on 2 May to resolve technical issues that have been keeping the plant running at reduced rates, a company source said on Friday.

The cracker, which mainly uses naphtha feed, is expected to be off line until 13 May while a planned 30-40 day turnaround for the plant is likely to be postponed to August from July, the source said.

The I-4 No 1 cracker is currently running at 75% capacity, the source added.

PTTGC also runs three other gas crackers at the site with a combined nameplate ethylene capacity of 1.86m tonnes/year.
