SINGAPORE (ICIS)--US-based Momentive Specialty Chemicals has started up its new acrylic-based resins plant in Chonburi, Thailand, and expects to gradually ramp up the unit’s run rate in the second quarter of this year, the firm said in a statement late on Monday.
Details on investment and plant capacity were not disclosed.
The firm’s Chonburi site is capable of producing acrylic resins mainly designed for applications in coatings, adhesives, and building and construction sectors.
“The new plant significantly expands Momentive’s production of acrylic-based resins in the region and allows the company to broaden its product offering in this important growth region,” it said.
The site also includes product development and applications laboratories, as well as technical service and application support capabilities for customers, it said.
In March this year, Momentive opened a new plant in Tianjin, China, that produces a full-range of amine-curing agents and supports the global demand for high performance epoxy systems, the firm said.
