SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Saudi Arabia’s National Methanol Company (Ibn Sina) is operating its 950,000 tonne/year natural gas-based methanol plant in Al-Jubail at normal capacity after restarting it in mid-April, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The source did not elaborate on the operating rates.

The plant was shut for maintenance in March for 20-30 days, according to the source.

SABIC has a methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) plant at the same production site, which uses methanol supplied by Ibn Sina.

Other major methanol producers in the region include Oman Methanol Co and Iran’s National Petrochemical Co (NPC).
