Nippon Shokubai eyes start-up at new China SAP unit in 1H 2014

XIAMEN (ICIS)--Japan’s Nippon Shokubai is planning to start up its new 30,000 tonne/year superabsorbent polymer (SAP) unit in 2014, a company source said on Thursday.

The new SAP unit - located at Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province - is expected to start up in the first half of 2014, the source said.

The company’s new 80,000 tonne/year acrylic acid unit and its 90,000 tonne/year SAP plant in Cilegon, Indonesia, is on schedule to start up in August this year, according to the source.

SAP is a raw material used in various applications, including diapers and industrial filters. While glacial AA is used in the production of SAP.
