TOKYO (ICIS)--Shin-Etsu Chemical’s full-year net profit rose by 5% year on year to (Y) 105.7bn ($1.06bn), buoyed partly by the hike in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) shipments to central and south America, the Japanese chemical producer said on Thursday.
Its net sales for the full-year period ending 31 March 2013 fell by 2.1% year on year to Y1,025.4bn, while operating profit was up by 5% at Y157bn, the company said in a statement.
The PVC/chlor-alkali segment’s full-year operating profit surged by 93% year on year to Y45.6bn, while net sales was up by 6.1% at Y343.7bn, it added.
