TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) stood at 44,033 tonnes in February 2013, an 8% increase from the same period the previous year, data from Sakubi Poval Kogyokai (VAM PVOH industry association) showed on Thursday.
Internal shipments of VAM for polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) production were at 35,524 tonnes, a 12% increase year on year, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the country’s output of PVOH rose by 17% to 19,277 tonnes in February from a year earlier, according to the association.
Domestic shipments of PVOH for Vinylon fibres were up by 37% year on year at 5,751 tonnes, based on the statistics.
