China September LLDPE futures rise 2% on short-covering

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) futures increased by 2% on Thursday on the back of short-covering activities, industry sources said.

September LLDPE futures, the most actively traded contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE), closed at yuan (CNY) 9,945/tonne ($1,609/tonne), up by CNY195/tonne from the settlement price of CNY9,750/tonne on 24 April.

Around 1.62m tonnes of LLDPE or 647,236 contracts for delivery in September 2013 were traded on 25 April, according to DCE data.
