Russia's Metafrax methanol output up in Q1

MOSCOW (ICIS)--Methanol output at Russian producer Metafrax was up in the first quarter of this year, the company said on Thursday.

In January-March 2013 Metafrax produced 269,000 tonnes of methanol – up by 1.1% year on year, the company said in a statement.

The company also produced 77,000 tonnes of formaldehyde in the first quarter – down by 4.1% year on year, and 47,000 tonnes of urea-formaldehyde concentrate – up by 2.3% year on year, it said.

Metafrax, based in Gubakha, in the Perm region of northern Russia, is the country's leading methanol producer and exporter. In January-March, Metafrax exported 40.3% of its total output, according to the statement.
