SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Chongqing Kabeile plans to start methanol sales from end-May following the restart of its 850,000 tonne/year natural gas-based methanol plant at Chongqing in southwest China on 23 April, a company source said on Friday.

The plant was started up in late March and taken off line in early April because of tight supply of feedstock natural gas, according to the source.

The unit achieved on-spec production on its first start-up, the source added.

Construction of the plant started in December 2009, the source said.

Chongqing Kabeile Chemical is a subsidiary of Chongqing Chemical and Pharmaceutical Holding Group.
