HOUSTON (ICIS)--Cabot’s Malaysian joint venture will close its carbon black plant at Port Dickson, Malaysia, by the end of July, the US-based chemicals firm said on Friday.
Cabot said the plant, operated by Cabot Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CMSB), “is not well positioned to efficiently serve our customers in southeast Asia on a long-term basis”.
The plant had “manufacturing inefficiencies” and unfavourable raw materials costs, it added. The closure will affect about 90 workers.
