Brazil refinery projects on track; more under study - Petrobras

CAMPINAS, ?xml:namespace>Brazil (ICIS)--Petrobras' Premium I and Premium II refineries are still being analysed, while construction on the Comperj Petrochemical Complex and the Abreu e Lima refinery are on track, the Brazilian state-run oil company said on Monday.
Premium I refinery should be located in the city of Bacabeira, Maranhao. Premium II refinery should be located in the city of Caucaia, Ceara.
"They are under analysis in order to make them profitable," said Petrobras' supply director, Jose Carlos Cosenza, during a conference call over the company’s Q1 2013 earnings.
"[Abreu e Lima's] physical completeness is around 73% as of March 2013,” the executive said of the refinery project near Recife, Pernambuco.
The first refining train of Abreu e Lima is expected to begin operating by November 2014, and the second by May 2015, Petrobras said.
When fully operational, Abreu e Lima will have a capacity of 230,000 bbl/day capacity.
Cosenza said construction of the Comperj refinery is 52% complete. It also will add 230,000 bbl/day of capacity to Petrobras’ portfolio.By: Leo Siqueira +1 713 525 2600
