HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) and Amyris signed a mulit-year agreement to develop and commercialise a set of renewable fragrance ingredients, the companies said on Monday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

IFF will have exclusive rights to the ingredients for use in flavours and fragrances, the companies said. Amyris will have exclusive rights for all other uses.

The companies will share any value derived from the ingredients, they said.

"Our collaboration with IFF is a critical element of our strategy to build on our synthetic biology platform to deliver new renewable ingredients to a range of industry sectors," according to a statement by John Melo, Amyris CEO. "We are confident in achieving the milestones we have set under this as well as our other collaborations in the F&F space."

Amyris makes products based on renewable farnesene.
