US Q1 2013 styrene production and inventories mixed

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US styrene production and inventories were mixed in the first quarter of 2013, according to data released by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Tuesday.

First-quarter styrene production this year was at 2.391bn lb, up by 5% from 2.282bn in the first quarter of 2012. The first-quarter styrene production was slightly down, however, by almost 2% from the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, first quarter styrene inventory was at 466m lb, a 19% drop from 574m lb the same time a year earlier.

Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, LyondellBasell, Styrolution, Total and Westlake – all of which contributed production figures included in the AFPM survey.
