US Q1 mix xylene production down from last year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US mixed xylene (MX) production in the first quarter of 2013 was down from the same time a year ago, according to data released by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Tuesday.

First-quarter 2013 MX was at 266m gal, down by 17% from 322m gal in the first quarter of 2012. The first-quarter MX production was also down by 21% from 336m gal in the fourth quarter of 2012.

AFPM did not report inventories for the first quarter.

Companies offering information for the AFPM survey included Amerada Hess, BP, Citgo, ExxonMobil, Flint Hills, Marathon, Shell and Total.
