Flash fire hits Texas Formosa Plastics plant – report

HOUSTON (ICIS)--A flash fire hit Formosa Plastics's plant at Point Comfort, Texas, a television station reported on Thursday.

The fire started at about 1300 Houston time, and it was extinguished 40 minutes later, according to a report by local television station KHOU.

Production was not disrupted, but there were injuries, KHOU reported, citing company officials.

Formosa Plastics did not immediately respond to a request for comment after hours.

KHOU did not specify which part of the plant was affected by the fire.

Formosa's Point Comfort complex produces chlor-alkalis, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) among other products, according to ICIS plants and products.
