The fire started at about 13:40 Houston time (16:40 GMT), the spokesperson told ICIS, adding that people were injured but further details were not yet available.

Local television station KHOU reported that the fire was extinguished 40 minutes later.

Formosa’s PE plant at the site was shut when the fire occurred, the spokesperson said.
