SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Nanjing Hongbaoli has been running trials at its new 60,000 tonne/year polyurethane (PU) rigid foam polyether plant at Nanjing in Jiangsu province since 28 April after achieving on-spec products, the company said on Friday.

Commercial operation will start once product quality and performance meets the required standards, Nanjing Hongbaoli said in a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

The company’s total capacity of polyether has increased to 150,000 tonne/year after the start of the new plant, a company source said.

Its other two polyether units, with a capacity of 40,000 tonnes/year and 50,000 tonnes/year respectively, ran at full load in 2012, demonstrating strong demand for the product, according to the source.

PU rigid foam polyether is widely used in construction and home appliances industries.
