SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Hyundai Cosmo (HC) Petrochem shut its No 2 aromatics unit in Daesan on 2 May because of mechanical issues at an exchange chamber, a company source said on Friday.
The plant will be shut for 15 days, the source said.
The No 2 aromatics unit is able to produce 120,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 800,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX).
The No 1 aromatics facility, that can produce 380,000 tonnes/year of PX and 120,000 tonnes/year of benzene, is still shut for scheduled maintenance since 15 April and will be restarting in two weeks’ time, he said.
