HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) in March 2013 were up by 13% from 2012, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.
MDI exports in March 2013 increased to 1,072 tonnes from 947 tonnes in 2012.
Month on month, exports were up by 31% in March from 818 tonnes in February 2013, the ITC said.
Through March, exports increased by 24% to 2,826 tonnes, compared with 2,281 tonnes in the first three months of 2012, according to the ITC.
The increase from the first three months of 2012 to the same period of 2013 was a result of larger volumes being shipped to Brazil, Taiwan and Korea.
Top destinations for US MDI in 2013 were Mexico (928 tonnes), Brazil (842 tonnes), and Taiwan (268 tonnes).
US MDI suppliers are Bayer MaterialScience, Huntsman, BASF and Dow Chemical.
