HOUSTON (ICIS)--US March styrene exports and imports were up from the same time a year ago, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
March 2013 US styrene exports were at 192,762 tonnes, up by 40,719 tonnes, or 27%, from 152,043 tonnes in March of last year. The top three destinations for US styrene were the Netherlands, Mexico and Brazil.
Meanwhile, March 2013 styrene imports were at 51,773 tonnes, up by 3,976 tonnes, or 8.3%, from 47,797 tonnes in March 2012.
Canada remained the sole importer of styrene this year, moving a total of 160,715 tonnes to date in 2013.
Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, Styrolution, LyondellBasell, Total and Westlake.
