HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acetic acid exports in March jumped almost 40% year on year on increased shipments to Belgium and Spain, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US acetic acid exports totalled 103,088 tonnes in March, compared with 73,875 tonnes in the same month of 2012.
March shipments to Belgium - the top destination - totalled 40,508 tonnes, more than doubling 19,183 tonnes in the same month last year.
Shipments to Spain also made a difference, with the European country receiving 6,790 tonnes in March compared with none in the same month of 2012.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
