HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) exports in March fell by 25% on decreased shipments to small-total destinations, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US VAM exports totalled 42,179 tonnes in March, compared with 56,431 tonnes in the same month of 2012.
Shipments to the six largest destinations - Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, Canada and Italy - fell by 5%, to 36,007 tonnes compared with 37,966 tonnes in the same period last year.
But shipments to destinations not ranked among the 10 largest accounted for 82% of the drop, with only 1,482 tonnes shipped to those countries in March compared with 13,147 tonnes in March 2012.
Major US VAM sellers include Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
