HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) exports in March jumped 51% year on year on shipments to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Turkey, according to data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US butac exports totalled 5,082 tonnes in March, compared with 3,367 tonnes in the same month of 2012.
The UAE and Turkey both received 1,000 tonnes each in March, compared with none in the same month last year.
Shipments to Mexico - the second largest destination - fell by nearly 37% to 764 tonnes, compared with 1,209 tonnes in March 2012.
Major US butac producers include Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical and Oxea Group.
