HOUSTON (ICIS)--US maleic anhydride (MA) exports were down 39% in March from the same month one year earlier, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data made available on Monday.
The US shipped 3,617 tonnes of MA in March, compared with 5,962 tonnes in March 2012.
Year to date, US exports of MA are down 40% compared with the same period in 2012, the ITC said.
The top destination by far for US MA in March was Mexico at 1,704 tonnes. It was followed by Colombia (387 tonnes), Germany (357 tonnes) and the United Kingdom (311 tonnes).
Major US MA producers include Huntsman, LANXESS, Ashland and Flint Hills Resources.
