HOUSTON (ICIS)--US methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) imports for March saw an increase of 54% year on year, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) Monday.
Imports increased to 10,934 tonnes in March 2013 from 7,095 tonnes in the same month of 2012. The bulk of the imports came from the United Kingdom, which comprised 49% of MEK imported into the US. Other top import countries were the Netherlands, China and South Africa.
Exports decreased 35% year on year, to 1,761 tonnes, from 2,701 tonnes in March 2012.
Nearly 41% of the exported product went to Mexico. Other countries that saw exports included Venezuela, Canada, Peru and Colombia.
