NEW YORK (ICIS)--March US exports for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fell by almost 26% year on year, according to trade data made available on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
March PET exports declined by 8,645 tonnes to 25,162 tonnes from 33,807 tonnes in March 2012.
However, exports on a month-on-month basis increased by 18%, rising from 21,321 tonnes in February.
March US imports were also down year on year, falling more than 3% from 42,113 in March 2012 to 40,696 tonnes in March 2013. But month-on-month PET imports rose more than 14% from 35,621 in February, according to the ITC.
US PET producers include DAK Americas, Indorama, Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G) Group and NanYa Plastics.
