US March PC imports fell by almost 11% from year ago - ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US imports of polycarbonate (PC) fell by almost 11% in March year over year, according to a report issued Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

March US imports of PC were 5,106 tonnes compared with 5,732 tonnes a year ago. March imports increased by about 14% from 4,479 tonnes in February 2013.

Imports from Germany fell by 45%, while imports from Thailand fell by 24%, according to the ITC.

US March exports of PC fell by more than 6% to 35,614 tonnes from 38,034 tonnes a year ago. Big declines came in exports to China, which fell by about 27% to 9,630 tonnes from 13,208 tonnes, and Singapore, which saw US shipments fall by almost 57% to 1,746 tonnes from 4,037 tonnes.

Major US manufacturers of PC include Styron, SABIC and Bayer MaterialScience.
