LONDON (ICIS)--European epichlorohydrin (ECH) prices have dropped by €55/tonne ($72/tonne) in May, in line with an €80/tonne drop in the price of feedstock propylene, sources said on Tuesday.

The May ECH contract price is at €1,765-1,770/tonne FD (free delivered)  NWE (northwest Europe).

One major producer said it only gave a reduction of €20-35/tonne because it needed to use the rest to improve margins.

Another producer said it followed the feedstock cost decreases, and this was confirmed by buyers.

There are a number of maintenance shutdowns in Europe in May, and producers said this will restrict supply and keep prices high, but this was rebuffed by buyers, who described availability as good.
