SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Inner Mongolia Tianye Chemical shut its 60,000 tonne/year polyacetal (POM) plant in Hohhot at the end of previous week for maintenance, said a source close to the company.

The POM plant is expected to resume production at the end of May, but the source did not specify a particular restart date.

POM is an engineering plastic used in precision parts that require strength and low friction. The material can withstand a wide range of temperatures and its main applications are in the automotive and electrical sectors.
