TAIPEI (ICIS)--South Korea’s GS Caltex is in the process of restarting its refinery and petrochemical facilities in Yeosu on Wednesday afternoon following a power failure that shut its operations at the complex early in the day, a company source said.
The company has two reformers, three paraxylene (PX) units, a toluene disproportionation (TDP) unit and a selective TDP (STDP) unit at the site.?xml:namespace>
The outage is expected to lead to a minimal benzene production loss of about 10,000 tonnes, the source said.
Most of the other producers with facilities at the site, including Yeochun NCC, were not affected.
LG Chem’s styrene monomer (SM) plant was affected by the power outage, “but it was only for nick of time”, said a company spokesperson.
“We shortly recovered to go on a full operation,” he said.
