TOKYO (ICIS)--Asahi Kasei’s full-year net profit declined 3.7% year on year to yen (Y) 53.7bn ($543m) partly on deteriorating market conditions in the chemicals segment, the Japanese producer said on Thursday.
Operating profit for the full year to 31 March 2013 fell by 12% to Y92.0bn from the previous year, while net sales rose by 5.9% to Y1,667bn.
In the chemicals segment, operating profit decreased by 49% to Y22.9bn, while net sales increased by 0.7% to Y684.6bn.
In the fibres segment, operating profit was up by 28% to Y4.0bn, while net sales declined by 1.1% to Y109.6bn.
