TAIPEI (ICIS)--Taiwan’s state-owned CPC Corp may offer its first mixed xylenes (MX) tender in the first-half of the year following the restart of its No 3 aromatics unit in Linyuan earlier this week, a company source said on Thursday.

Its No 3 aromatics unit has a nameplate capacity of 36,000 tonnes/year benzene, 115,000 tonnes/year toluene and 135,000 tonnes/year of MX.

“As CPC is still currently running one PX [paraxylene] line with no plans to ramp up the current operating rates because of the poor domestic demand, excess MX will be sold to the spot market on a tender basis,” the source added.

The last MX tender issued by CPC Corp was to purchase 9,000 tonnes of isomer-grade xylene early in January.

Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) is being held in Taipei on 9-10 May.
