TAIPEI (ICIS)--Thailand’s phenol consumption is estimated to grow 5% this year, driven by an increase in demand from downstream bisphenol-A (BPA) and phenolic resins sectors, the country’s petrochemical association said.
Phenol consumption is projected at 338,000 tonnes/year in 2013, the Petrochemical Industry Club of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTIPC) said in a report distributed at the Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC).
However, domestic production of phenol this year is expected to remain at the same levels as in 2012 at 220,000 tonnes/year, FTIPC said.
APIC 2013 is taking place in Taiwan’s capital Taipei on 9-10 May.
