SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Xinjiang Tianye plans to bring on stream its 170,000 tonnes/year 1,4-butanediol (BDO) unit at Xinjiang province in August 2014, a source close to the company said on Friday.
The company started the construction of the unit on 1 May. The unit is the second phase of the 200,000 tonne/year BDO project, the source said.
Meanwhile, its 30,000 tonne/year BDO unit, the first phase of the project, is running smoothly at full capacity, the source added.
The 30,000 tonne/year BDO unit has reached an output of 12,000 tonnes since it achieved on-spec production in December 2012, according to the source.
The financial details for both plants were not disclosed.
