SINGAPORE (ICIS)-- Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) is running its 280,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant at Mailiao at around 85% of capacity to cope with weak demand, a company source said on Friday.
“The plant is running at around 85% [of capacity] currently, lower than last month’s 90-95%,” the source said.
Weak demand and squeezed margins forced the producer to cut the plant’s output, according to the source.
A separate local producer China Petrochemical Development Corp (CPDC) is running its 240,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant at around 85% capacity, according to a previous story from ICIS.
