TOKYO (ICIS)--Ube Industries’ year-to-March net profit declined by 64% to Y8.27bn ($82m), with net sales slipping 2% to Y626bn, the Japanese chemical firm said on Friday.
Operating profit for the period declined by 35% to Y30.0bn, the company said in a statement.
In the chemicals and resins segment, operating profit slumped 78% to Y5.0bn as net sales declined by 5% to Y219.3bn owing to sluggish overseas market conditions for caprolactam, Ube Industries said.
Operating profit for the performance products and fine chemical segment fell by 77% to Y1.2bn, with net sales falling by 5.1% to Y61.1bn.
