TOKYO (ICIS)--Kaneka Corp’s year-to-March net profit rose by 73% to yen (Y) 9.33bn ($93m) from the same period the year before, the Japanese chemical producer said on Friday.
Operating profit for the period increased by 20% year on year to Y15.8bn, while net sales rose by 1.5% to Y476.5bn.
In the group's chemicals segment, full-year operating profit increased by 20% year on year to Y4.39bn, while net sales stood at Y94.8bn, a 0.6% increase, after sales volumes of polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-based special resins increased both in Japan and overseas, Kaneka said.
Operating profit in the performance resins segment was up by 0.7% year on year to Y6.21bn, despite net sales declining by 0.4% to Y70.9bn.
