SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Sinopec and PetroChina are expected to process a combined 31.5m tonnes of crude in May, with daily throughput up by 1.3% from the previous month, company sources said on Monday.
Sinopec set its crude throughput target for May at 19.24m-19.44m tonnes, with daily throughput to fall by 0.7% month on month, while PetroChina is expected to refine 12.05m-12.25m tonnes of crude in May, up by 4.6% on a daily basis from April, according to the sources.
The combined crude throughput of China's two biggest refiners is expected to rise further in June as there will be fewer refinery turnarounds, market sources said.
In addition, Sinopec Wuhan is expected to bring on stream new downstream units at the end of May and PetroChina subsidiary Sichuan Petrochemical is expected to start up a 10m tonne/year refinery in June.
