China’s industrial output growth picks up to 9.3% in April

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s industrial output expanded by 9.3% year on year in April, compared with 8.9% posted in March, official data showed on Monday.

The industrial output grew by 9.4% in January-April, slightly slower than the 9.5% in January-March, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.

Industrial output measures the final output value of industrial production, or the value of gross industrial output minus intermediate input, such as raw materials and labor costs.

Meanwhile, the country’s retail sales gained 12.8% in April, compared with a 12.6% growth in March, the NBS data indicated.
