TEHRAN (ICIS)--Iran-based Ilam Petrochemical plans to start commercial production at its new 300,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant in Ilam at the end of May, a company source said on Tuesday.
The new HDPE plant would receive ethylene feedstock from Kavian Petrochemical Co’s ethane cracker in Assaluyeh in southern Iran via the western pipeline which stretches across the western coast of Iran, the source said.
The source was speaking on the sidelines of the 10th Iran Petrochemical Forum, a two-day event held from 13th May in Tehran.
Ilam Petrochemical Co also planned to start up a 450,000 tonne/year ethane cracker at the same site in Ilam by 2015, which would supply ethylene to the HDPE plant, he added.
Ilam Petrochemical Co would stop buying ethylene from Kavian Petrochemical once its new cracker came on stream, he said.
Ilam Petrochemical Co is majority owned by Petrochemical Commercial Co of Iran.
