SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Liaherd Chemical Industry will be starting up its new melamine production line on 16 May 2013 at its Zibo plant in Yi yuan, Shandong province, a company source said late on Tuesday.
The new line will ramp up the group's current production capacity of 30,000 tonne/year at the plant by 40,000 tonnes/year to reach 70,000 tonnes/year, the source said.
The company has a second 30,000 tonne/year melamine plant at Tai’An which resumed operations on 12 May following a scheduled maintenance. It was taken off line by the end of April.
The expansion would bring the group’s total melamine production to 100,000 tonnes/year.
Market players said this will increase melamine supply but the impact on the market would be gradual as it will take time for the new plant to stabilise production.
