HOUSTON (ICIS)--US petrochemical producer Occidental released a total of 100 lbs of ethylene dichloride (EDC) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) from its chlor-alkali facility in La Porte, Texas, on Wednesday, according to a filing with the National Response Center.
According to the filing, a reactor at the plant leaked the material at 9:20 a.m. local time (14:20 GMT). The cause of the incident is under investigation, the filing states.
